Magic Charm of Colors
Paintings, Collages, Prints

The private view of an exhibition by well-known artist Karel Vysušil took place at the Praha City Center on Tuesday, October 24, 2006. The exhibition, entitled ‘Magic Charm of Colors’ was introduced by Dr. Karel Žižkovský.

The exhibition, which takes place on the occasion of the artist’s 80th birthday, is part of a Karel Vysušil festival that will continue in further galleries in Prague and Olomouc.
Painter and printmaker Karel Vysušil studied at the School of Decorative Art and the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague under Otakar Nejedlý and Karel Minář. He was a co-founder of the G7, LG5 and Máj groups. He has been a member of the Hollar group since 1952.

His favorite printmaking techniques are dry needle, etching and colored lithography. Mr. Vysušil has shown his works at more than 60 solo and 250 group exhibitions in Austria, Germany, Japan, France, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Italy, Poland, the USA and the Czech Republic.
He has won numerous international awards, such as a silver plaque in Tokyo in 1969. His work is represented in the collections of the National Gallery in Prague.

The works in the exhibition are for sale. The exhibition continues until November 30, 2006, and is open to the public on weekdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
