As a part of the corporate art program European Property Development (EPD) and CEE-Invest v.o.s. exhibit contemporary Czech art in the Praha City Center.
On Thursday May 13 2010, a vernissage of the“Global Portrait” exhibition took place at the Praha City Center building, showing paintings by the artist Jiří Votruba.
This vernissage was prepared in cooperation with the Medela Project of Asante Kenya Foundation.
Jiří Votruba has donated two drawings: Converse and Lacoste in order to be auctioned during the vernissage of the exhibition. All proceeds from this benefit auction went to Project Medela which helps children in difficult life situations.
Lejla Abbasová, the foundress of the Asante Kenya Foundation, was moderating the whole event.
Jiří Votruba is a painter, illustrator and graphic designer. He is one of the best known artists on the Prague visual culture scene.His works were presented at almost 50 solo exhibitions all around the world: from Czech Republic, Austria, Germany and United Kingdom to Japan, Sudan or Egypt. Votruba likes to travel looking for lost paradise areas.
He likes to work in series, devoting himself to various subjects (e.g. swimming pools, shoes, etc.).
Recently he has been fascinated by the consume society and its powerful attraction. He presents this subject with his new series “Global Portrait“.
All displayed works are for sale. The exhibition continues until August 31, 2010, and can be visited by the public from Mon to Fri from 10:00 to 17:00 on the 1st floor.
